What is Petal, and what does it cost?

Petal is a calm home for your everyday money — income, expenses, budgets, goals and savings in one place. Everyday Petal is free forever: unlimited transactions, budgets, goals, investment tracking, reports and the core dashboard, at no cost. Petal Plus is ₹149 a month (or ₹1,599 a year, saving 33%) and adds secure cloud backup, multi-device sync, advanced insights, CSV/Excel export, early access to new features and priority support.

Is there a limit on how much I can track for free?

No. Everyday Petal has no transaction limit — log as much income and spending as you like, create budgets, goals and investments, and use reports and the dashboard for free. Petal Plus is there when you want cloud backup, multi-device sync, deeper insights and exports.

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Two places, both yours. A copy lives in your browser on this device so Petal opens instantly, and once you sign in it's saved to your Petal account in our managed cloud database so your numbers follow you to any device.

Is my financial data encrypted?

Everything travelling between you and Petal goes over HTTPS, and our cloud database encrypts what it stores on disk. We don't do end-to-end encryption, so please don't treat Petal as a vault for passwords or card numbers.

Is Petal secure?

We've built it carefully: signed-in sessions, row-level rules on every table so records are tied to one account, server-side checks on anything that touches money, and no bank connections at all — nothing can be moved from your accounts through Petal. We're a young beta product, not an audited bank, and we'd rather say that plainly.

Who can access my financial data?

Other members cannot see your records. The database restricts every record to its owner. Ask Petal can use your saved financial data to answer your questions, but that data remains tied to your account. Limited authorized access may be used for support, maintenance and security reviews.

How does cloud sync work?

Accepted Answer

When you're signed in, changes save to your device first so nothing feels laggy, then quietly upload to your account. Sign in somewhere else and Petal pulls your latest saved copy down. If you're offline, Petal keeps working and syncs the next time you're online.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Your money story isn't lost. Sign in on any other device and everything you'd synced is there. To be safe, change your Petal password so the old device's session can't be reused.

How are payments processed?

Petal Plus purchases are not open during Beta. When purchases open, payments will use Razorpay at ₹149 a month or ₹1,599 a year. Card, UPI and net-banking details will be entered with Razorpay, not Petal.

Can I permanently delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open the profile menu and choose Delete my account. That removes your profile, saved money data and support history. Download a copy first if you want one — deletion cannot be undone.

What is the Petal Beta?

It's the early version of Petal, shared with a small group before the public launch. Everything here works, but we're still polishing screens and adding features week by week. Your feedback shapes what we build next.

Can I export my data?

Yes. You can download a full JSON backup from Settings at any time. Keep that file somewhere private, especially if you plan to delete your account.

What happens if I clear my browser?

If you're signed in, nothing is lost — Petal pulls your saved copy back down the next time you sign in. If you've been using Petal without an account, clearing your browser clears that local copy, so it's worth signing up early.

Does Petal work offline?

Yes. Install Petal on your phone and you can keep logging while you're offline. Changes save to your device first and quietly sync to your account the next time you're online.

Does Petal work on mobile?

Petal is a progressive web app. Install it on Android or iOS straight from your browser and it behaves like a native app — home screen icon, full screen and offline support included.

Reports and insights are getting deeper, investment tracking is growing, and we're refining reminders, exports and the mobile experience. You may spot the odd rough edge — that's the beta doing its job.
